WHAT'S NEW!

On October 9, 2007, the Governor’s Office and the South Carolina Department of Commerce announced the new statewide Career Readiness certification program, “WorkReadySC”.  The announcement, to the media and other state and community leaders involved with the program, was made at CMC Steel in Cayce, SC.  The ceremonial first WorkReadySC certificate was awarded at that time to an employee of CMC Steel.                                .  

While the announcement officially launched the statewide program, for Adult Education it will mean a continuation of our CRC instructional programs and the WorkKeys® test administration process we have been involved with for a number of years.  For Adult Education, the benefits to being part of the statewide system are that our students will now receive the WorkReadySC certificate signed by the Governor, and that our programs will be listed as “Training and Assessment Providers” on the website.  We should also benefit from the increased marketing efforts that will be part of the Department of Commerce’s total program effort. 

To learn more about the October 9th Announcement and the statewide initiative in general, click the link shown below to access the new WorkReadySC Web Portal.  On the home page, the bubble in the bottom left corner (“SC Launches Statewide Career Readiness Certificate”) links you to the press announcement and other news articles surrounding the event.  In the menu listing on the right column of the home page, the General Information section will link you to a video shown during the official launch.  The video is something you might want to share with students and others in your community.  Also in the General Information section is a listing of Employers Using WorkKeys®.  This is the long-awaited business listing of South Carolina companies that recognize the Workkeys® assessment system.

The portal is also our link to the Internet version of WIN software, so check it out carefully!
